German writer, artist and politician, born 28 August 1749 in Frankfurt, Holy Roman Empire, died 22 March 1832, in Weimar, Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach. His works span the fields of poetry, drama, literature, theology, philosophy, humanism and science. He was one of the key figures of German literature and the movement of Weimar Classicism in the late 18th and early 19th centuries; this movement coincides with Enlightenment, Sentimentality (Empfindsamkeit), Sturm und Drang and Romanticism.

goethe 1749年8月28日、神聖ローマ帝国のフランクフルトに生まれ、1832年3月22日にザクセン＝ヴァイマール＝アイゼナハのヴァイマールで亡くなったドイツの作家、芸術家、政治家です。その作品は詩、演劇、文学、神学、哲学、ヒューマニズム、科学といった多岐にわたる分野に及びます。18世紀後半から19世紀初頭にかけてのドイツ文学とヴァイマール古典主義運動の主要人物の一人であり、その運動は啓蒙主義、多感主義（Empfindsamkeit）、シュトゥルム・ウント・ドラング、ロマン主義と同時期に展開されました。
